Can Pets Get Coronavirus From Their Owners? Here Are The Cases So Far

How To Manage Border Collie Shedding: 7 Savvy Tips

The Border Collie Double Coat The Border collie is a medium-sized dog breed with a striking double coat.   Long, slick weather-resistant guard hairs provide protection against rain and snow, while the downy undercoat provides insulation from cold, as well as protection against sun and heat. The guard hairs form a protective shell that allows air to circulate through the undercoat, keeping in warm air from the body’s heat during winter months, while allowing cool air to circulate beneath on warmer days, protecting the skin from the sun’s rays.   Matted coats hamper the coats ability to provide insulation and proper air circulation. This is a breed that tolerates cold better than heat; in fact border collies are increasingly being used as lead dogs on sledding teams in Alaska and Canada. Conversely, these high drive dogs need to be monitored for over-heating on extremely warm days. Border Collie Coat Pattern The Border collie coat pattern is referred to as Irish spottin

What to Do If Your Dog Can't Poop?

Typically, dogs defecate one or two times a day.  Once the dog has chosen his spot, he should eliminate completely within 60-90 seconds.  Dogs that are straining to produce a stool for more than two minutes, and fail to produce a stool or produce small, hard feces, may be suffering from constipation. If your dog has not produced a stool in over two days, his condition has progressed from constipation to obstipation, a more serious condition. Symptoms of Dog Constipation Straining for over 2 minutes to defecate Hard, dry stools Absent or infrequent stools Scooting Senior dogs tend to have more issues with constipation as they age. Occasional and chronic constipation, caused by environmental factors, can usually be treated with at-home remedies.  Constipation in combination with excessive licking of the anus, pain, lethargy, inappetence, dehydration or vomiting merits a visit to the vet. The superstar of the herding group, the border collie is keenly alert to every opportunity, at work and at play. Their intense expression is an extension of their ability to move and work stock by using their "eye." A natural gathering dog, the border collie assumes a predatory stance, the signature crouch, and stares down the stock. She is then able to guide the stock from one pasture to another or round them up, and shed individual sheep for shearing or vaccinations. These energetic dogs need exercise and a job to do.  However, that job may be something as simple as a bone or chew toy.
